Safety Concerns
Quickstart Installation Checklist
(Refer to main manual for complete installation instructions).
1. Check the process and return hoses for tight connections.
2. Check all companion equipment, such as the drying hopper; verify that the loading
system is ready for operation.
3. Verify that all dryer electrical connections are tight.
4. Verify that the thermocouples are properly installed in the dryer and at the hopper
outlet and inlet.
5. Verify temperature unit/scale (
o
F or
o
C).
6. Check blowers for proper rotation
Unit Operation
(Refer to controller manual for complete operating instructions).
Start Up
1.
Turn on the control.
2.
To change any of the settings for the dryer, a valid user name and password will be required. The
valid user names are: Oper1,Oper2,Super1,and Super2. The passwords will be provided in the
MDB Electrical Manual.

All setup screens are accessed from the
Setup Menu
.
4.
Settings are changed using on screen keypads. The keypad may be either a numeric or
alphanumeric one. Minimum and maximum values will be indicated, and these ranges can not be
circumvented.
5.
Pressing on
SYSTEM
will allow the user to change settings pertaining to how data will be
displayed (Fahrenheit or Celsius? Metric or Standard?). As well, the alarm silence duration,
number of hoppers and sequence shutdown, are all adjusted through this screen.
6.
Press on
HOPPER
to adjust settings related to the Process Temperature Setpoint, Deviation
limits for temperature alarms, standby time, process ID for the Hopper (s), hopper volume, heater
KW, and to change the material. The black and white arrow on the screen enables the user to
switch between multiple hoppers. This arrow is found on several setup screens and serves the
same purpose. Towards the middle of the screen there is a large pushbutton. This allows the
user to either Enable, Disable, Start, or Stop that specific hopper.

Pressing the material name on the
DRYING HOPPER SETUP
screen will bring up the
MATERIAL SELECT
screen, which allows the user to load a saved recipe or to set up a new one.
Pressing
SETUP
will bring up another screen, the
MATERIAL SETUP
screen.
8.
To create a new recipe, press
NEW
on the
MATERIAL SETUP
screen to bring up the
NEW
MATERIAL SETUP
screen.
9.
Pressing
AUTOTUNE
on the
HOPPER SETUP
screen brings up a new screen that enables the
user to start or stop the Autotune for the process heater. Autotune should be performed on initial
startup after installation and any time a process change occurs that affects air flow.
10.
Pressing
DEWPOINT
on the
SETUP MENU
will bring up the
DEWPOINT SETUP
screen. The
user will be able to adjust various settings that affect the Dewpoint Switch,Alarm, and Override
Time.
11.
Pressing
OVERDRY PROTECT
on the
SETUP MENU
will allow the user to access the
OVERDRY PROTECTION
screen. On this screen the user can set up the temperatures and
times that would trigger a setback to the normal drying temperature. As well, convey setback can
also be adjusted.
12.
Hour Meters may be set up by pressing
HOUR METERS
on the
SETUP MENU
. Hold down the
“R” for 3 seconds to reset the item. Only “Since Service” is resettable.
13.
To start the dryer, go to the
MAIN MENU
and press
DRYER STATUS.
