The distance from the bottom surface of the carburetor
to the top of the float should be 16–20 mm.
Figure 231 — Float level
Bend the actuator tab to adjust float level until the
distance is within specification, using needle-nose pliers.

Unscrew the idle adjuster to allow the throttle valve to
bottom in the throttle bore. Count the number of turns
of the idle adjuster it takes to bottom the throttle valve
so that it can be repositioned correctly during
reassembly.
Remove the top cover screws and top cover.
Loosen the Allen screw on the slide, using a 2.5 mm hex
bit.
Swing the clip aside and remove the jet needle. Retain
the plastic jet needle washer located under the jet
needle E-ring.
Replace the jet needle with the plastic washer and
E-ring.
Swing the clip into place.
Tighten the Allen screw, using a 2.5 mm hex bit.
Reinstall the top cover and screws and tighten.
Screw the idle adjuster in until the original number of
turns is reached.

Place the open end of the clip against a hard surface.
Cover the clip area with your hand and press the needle
down to snap the clip off the needle.
Place the clip in the first groove from the top of the
needle.
Place the clip, open-end up, against a hard surface.
Again, cover the clip area with your hand and press
down on the needle to snap the clip into place. Make
sure that you apply pressure near the clip to avoid
bending the needle.

Turn the petcock (fuel supply valve) to off.
Remove the float bowl, using a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
Use your finger to push the nozzle out of the throat of
the carburetor.
Push in a replacement nozzle with an O-ring. Position
the accelerator pump nozzle opening toward the jet
needle at the center of the throat of the carburetor.
Install the float bowl and screws and tighten, using a #2
Phillips screwdriver.
Turn the petcock (fuel supply valve) on and work the
throttle several times to prime the accelerator pump.
Use needle-nose pliers to adjust the accelerator pump
nozzle fuel stream to the middle of the carburetor throat.
Note:
It is important that you use a tight-fitting
screwdriver when removing screws or jets. Carburetor
screws are slightly soft to prevent the stripping of
expensive aluminum casting threaded holes. Do not use
hardened screws when replacement is required.
