Disconnect the crankcase vent line from the back of the
air cleaner housing.
Motorcycles for use in California are equipped with air
cleaners having a solenoid and butterfly assembly.
These components are used to minimize evaporative
emissions. The butterfly assembly covers the inlet to the
air cleaner and is closed when the engine is not running
and the key is turned off. The solenoid opens the
butterfly assembly when the key is turned on.
