Table 2-7 shows a suggested ways to wire the serial connections to a 25-pin
or a 9-pin connector. The RS-232 Standard specifies female connectors
(DB-25S) for DCE devices and male connectors (DB-25P) for DTE
devices. The user can make Data Terminal (DTE) or Data Communication
(DCE) style interfaces for the end product. Add the handshaking signal
jumpers shown in Table 2-7 to the connector in case the mating serial device
relies upon the state of its handshake lines to send or receive data.
