Hard disk drive

1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”

on page 29.

2. Mount the drive in the front hard disk drive cage assembly, using the four

mounting screws that you removed previously.

3. Connect the power cable and the signal cable to the drive.

4. Install the front hard disk drive cage assembly in the server (see “Installing the

front hard disk drive cage assembly” on page 54).

5. Install the CD or DVD drive in the server (see “Installing the CD or DVD drive”

on page 38).

6. Install the cover (see “Installing the cover” on page 31).

7. Slide the server into the rack.

8. Reconnect the power cords and any cables that you removed.

9. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.

10. If you are instructed to return the hard disk drive, follow all packaging

instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to
you.

Removing the rear hard disk drive

Locate the documentation that comes with the hard disk drive and follow those
instructions in addition to the instructions in this section.

To remove the rear hard disk drive, complete the following steps.
