Removing the CD or DVD backplane
To remove the CD or DVD backplane, complete the following steps.
Power cable connector
CD or DVD drive
cable connector
CD or DVD drive connector
CD or DVD drive backplane
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 29.
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords and
external cables; then, remove the server from the rack.
3. Remove the server cover (see “Removing the cover” on page 31).
4. Remove the CD or DVD drive (see “Removing the CD or DVD drive” on page
36), if present.
5. Disconnect the signal cable and the power cable from the CD or DVD
backplane.
6. Remove the two mounting screws; then, remove the CD or DVD backplane from
the server.
7. If you are instructed to return the backplane, follow all packaging instructions,
and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
