Installing the rear hard disk drive cage assembly

To install the rear hard disk drive cage assembly, complete the following steps.

Retention latch

Rear hard disk
drive cage

1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”

on page 29.

2. If you removed a hard disk drive, reinstall it (see “Installing the rear hard disk

drive” on page 59).

3. Insert the drive-cage assembly into the server; then, slide the drive-cage

assembly toward the rear of the server until it seats securely.

4. Close the drive-cage assembly retention latch.

5. Install the cover (see “Installing the cover” on page 31).

6. Slide the server into the rack.

7. Reconnect the power cords and any cables that you removed.

8. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.

Removing the front hard disk drive

Locate the documentation that comes with the hard disk drive and follow those
instructions in addition to the instructions in this chapter.

To remove the front hard disk drive, complete the following steps.
