1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 29.
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords and
external cables; then, remove the server from the rack.
3. Remove the server cover (see “Removing the cover” on page 31).
4. Grasp the riser-card assembly at the rear edge and lift straight up to remove it
from the server.
5. Place the riser-card assembly on a flat, static-protective surface.
6. If an adapter is installed, remove it from the riser-card assembly (see
“Removing an adapter” on page 35).
7. If you are instructed to return the riser card, follow all packaging instructions,
and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Installing a riser-card assembly
To install a riser-card assembly, complete the following steps.
1. Reinstall any adapters that you removed from the riser card (see “Installing an
adapter” on page 36).
