Installing the front hard disk drive cage assembly

To install the front hard disk drive cage assembly, complete the following steps.

Retention latch

Hard disk drive
tray assembly

1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”

on page 29.

2. If you removed a hard disk drive, reinstall it (see “Installing the front hard disk

drive” on page 57).

3. Insert the drive-cage assembly into the server; then, slide the drive-cage

assembly forward until it seats securely.

4. Close the drive-cage assembly retention latch.

5. Install the cover (see “Installing the cover” on page 31).

6. Slide the server into the rack.

7. Reconnect the power cords and any cables that you removed.

8. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.

9. If you are instructed to return the disk drive cage assembly, follow all packaging

instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to
you.
