Exchange a Voice Server Extension
Important
You MUST deactivate (force a hardware reset) the corresponding VSA before exchanging (see
“Nways Switch Administration Station Windows Overview” on page 3-5). If deactivation is not
possible continue with the following procedure.
Should a voice server extension (VSE) removed inadvertendly, the corresponding VSA must be
deactivated then reactivated.

Ÿ
Locate the voice server extension (VSE)
module using “2220 Rear View in 37 U
Rack” on page 6-16.
Ÿ
Using the label on the front of the VSE,
check that the VSE installed on the
machine and the VSE that you want to
exchange are the same type.
Ÿ
Loosen the screws on the latches.
Ÿ
Unlock the latches as shown, then remove
the module from its location.

Exchange the VSE module.
– Position the latches, then slide the
module into its location.
– Secure the module by locking the
latches, then tighten the screws on the
latches.
Ÿ
Check that the green LED of the VSE
module blinks. If not, check the VSE
module installation and if the problem
persists call the Network Support Center.
Ÿ
Reactive the corresponding VSA.
Ÿ
Check that the green LED of the VSE
module comes ON. If not, call the Network
Support Center. Otherwise go to “Ending
the Exchange Procedure” on page 6-75.
