2220 Component Locations
Locating System Components in the 2220
Each component is located using:
Ÿ
Rack identification
(RR) Letter A, or B for rack. The rack identifier is installed at the top of each
rack at installation time.
Examples:
2220-500: rack A
2220-501: rack B
Ÿ
Front or rear location of the rack (S) Letter F or R.
Examples:
2220-500, front (adapter side): A-F
2220-501, rear (LIC side): B-R
Ÿ
Vertical location (UU) The vertical location uses EIA Units (U-units). A vertical
label divided into U-units is affixed to the front and rear of each rack to indicate
the vertical locations.
Examples:
2220-500, front, logic subrack: A-F-06
2220-501, rear, logic subrack: B-R-06
Ÿ
Horizontal location (HH)
– For modules: 1 to 12 (label already existing)
– For power supplies and fans, number 1 or 2
Examples:
2220-500, front, adapter postion 4: A-F-06-04
2220-501, rear, fan box 2: B-R-19-2
Ÿ
Cable and connector location (JJJ) 3 digits are used (for example, J01).
Example: 2220-501, rear, LIC position 1, connector J03: B-R-06-01-J03

Note: Specific unit numbering is used to identify a unique unit, when the unit can
not be identified using the previous system (starting from 99, 98, 97, and so
on).
Format of Location Identifier
This label format is used to identify external cables.
