Troubleshooting - Procedures
Warning!
Before attempting any service work on the compressor, the
following safety precautions should be strictly adhered to. Failure to follow
these instructions could result in serious personal injury.
1.
Follow recognized safety practices and wear protective goggles.
2.
Do not operate compressor or provide any electric power to this unit unless the
compressor terminal box cover is in place and secured.
3.
Do not provide power to unit or turn on compressor unless suction and discharge
service valves are open.
4.
Do not remove the compressor terminal box cover until all electrical sources have
been disconnected.
5.
Warning:
In the event of a refrigerant leak around terminals proceed immediately
to Step 6. Do not disturb the terminals or wiring at the terminals or perform any
disassembly of this compressor until Step 6 is completed.
6.
Shut off suction and discharge service valves to isolate the compressor and slowly
remove all refrigerant in compressor. Appropriate service practices should be
followed to properly reclaim refrigerant removed from the compressor.
7.
Disconnect all electrical wiring to the compressor.
8.
Unbolt suction and discharge service valves from the compressor.
REMINDER
: These valves may be sealing off refrigerant from the rest of the
system. Do not open these valves without first determining whether there is
refrigerant in the system.
