To define the group for a lifting machine, winch or hoist, three essential parameters must be considered:

The maximum load to be lifted 

Including the weight of the rope and any lifting accessories present (hook etc.), except if they have a total weight less 

than or equal to 5% of the load to be lifted. 

 

 

 

b-

 

The duty factor 

Indicates the extent to which the lifting machine is used at maximum load or with a reduced load. There are four 

different duty factors:
