4.7 Service configuration
4.7.1 Configuring Basic Features
This section explains how to create volumes, check the factory configuration, and configure
local users and user groups.
4.7.1.1 Creating Volumes
In the process of installing Windows Storage Server 2012 on the N2000 server at the factory,
only the volume where Windows Storage Server 2012 resides is created, and the remaining
disk space is reserved. You are advised to create and allocate volumes as soon as possible
based on your actual service needs.
Prerequisites
The hardware of the N2000 server has been installed and powered on.
You have logged in to Windows Storage Server 2012 as an administrator.
Procedure
Step 1
Choose
File and Storage Services
>
Volumes
from the navigation tree of the Server
Manager that is automatically started after a login to the operating system.
Step 2
Choose
TASKS
>
New Volume
in the upper right corner of the
VOLUMES
area.
Step 3
In the
New Volume Wizard
window, the
Before You Begin
page is displayed by default.
Click
Next
.
Step 4
On the
Server and Disk
page, select
Disk1
and click
Next
.
Step 5
Set a volume size.
On the
Size
page, the following parameters are displayed:
Available Capacity
: indicates the available disk space that can be allocated.
Minimum size
: indicates the minimum capacity that a volume to be created must have.
The default value cannot be changed.
Volume size
: indicates the volume capacity actually allocated, expressed in TB, GB, or
MB.
Volume size
can neither be smaller than
Minimum size
nor greater than
Available
Capacity
.
Set a volume size based on the actual service plan and click
Next
.
Step 6
Map the volume to a specific drive or folder.
If you want to map the volume to a specific drive, select the desired driver letter from the
Drive letter
drop-down list and click
Next
.
Starting from letter D, driver letters are automatically generated in the alphabetical order. You can select
a driver letter from the
Drive letter
drop-down list.
If you want to map the volume to a specific folder, select the desired folder based on
The
following folder
.
Select The following folder and click Browse.
Select the desired folder or create a folder on an existing disk.
