Initial Configuration for a Dedicated Service LAN
New systems are shipped with an initial set of IP addresses configured. You can change these
preconfigured IP addresses to addresses appropriate for your LAN environment. For a listing of
these initial IP addresses, see
Factory-default IP addresses for the Ethernet ports are available from your Hewlett Packard
Enterprise service provider (in the
Versatile I/O Manual
.) IP addresses for SWAN concentrators
are in the
WAN Subsystem Configuration and Management Manual
.
You must change the preconfigured IP addresses on:
•
The backup system console so it does not conflict with the primary system console.
•
Any system console if you want to add a new Nonstop system to an existing maintenance
LAN.
Keep track of all the IP addresses in your system so that no IP address is assigned twice.
The NonStop Maintenance LAN DHCP DNS Configuration Wizard, a component of OSM Console
Tools software that is installed on NonStop system consoles, can be used to configure DHCP
and DNS services required on your dedicated service LAN. Most of this configuration is done by
your Hewlett Packard Enterprise service provider during initial configuration of the dedicated
service LAN, when additional NonStop systems are added, or when adding or replacing a NonStop
system console. Your Hewlett Packard Enterprise service provider should refer to the
NonStop
Dedicated Service LAN Installation and Configuration Guide
.
Additional Configuration for OSM
If you are using the OSM Notification Director for remote support services and/or require a faster
connection to the OSM Service Connection, see "Configuring Additional TCP/IP Processes for
OSM Connectivity," in the
OSM Migration and Configuration Guide
.
System Consoles for NS2100 Systems
NOTE:
Because Hewlett Packard Enterprise requires two sources of HSS files for NS2100
systems, you must have two system consoles (primary and backup) configured on the dedicated
service LAN. If you do not have a second system console available for this purpose, you must
order a second one with your system.
New system consoles are preconfigured with the required Hewlett Packard Enterprise and
third-party software. When upgrading to the latest RVU, you can install software upgrades from
the NonStop System Console Installer DVD.
System console hardware for NS2100 commerical systems, including the Windows Server system
unit, monitor, and keyboard, can be mounted in the cabinet.
System consoles communicate with NS2100 systems over a dedicated service local area network
(LAN) or a secure operations LAN. A dedicated service LAN is required for use of OSM Low-Level
Link and Notification Director functionality, which includes configuring primary and backup dial-out
points (referred to as the primary and backup system consoles, respectively).
NOTE:
The NonStop system console must be configured with some ports open. For more
information, see the
NonStop System Console Installer Guide
.
System Console Configurations
Several system console configurations are possible:

Primary and Backup System Console Managing One System
This configuration is required for NS2100 systems. For fault-tolerant redundancy, it includes a
