FORMat Subsystem
FORMat Subsystem
The FORMat subsystem sets a data format for transferring numeric
and array information.
TRACe[:DATA]
and
TRACe[:DATA]?
are
affected by FORMat subsystem commands.
Byte Order
:FORMat:BORDer NORMal|SWAPped
:FORMat:BORDer?
This command selects the binary data byte order for data transfer. It
controls whether binary data is transferred in normal or swapped
mode. This command affects only the byte order for setting and
querying trace data for the command
:TRACe[:DATA]
and query
:TRACe[:DATA]?
NOTE
Normal mode is when the bit sequence begins with the most significant
bit (MSB) on the left, and ends with the least significant bit (LSB) on
the right in the sequence: 1|2|3|4. Swapped mode is when the bit
sequence begins with the LSB on the left, and ends with the MSB on
the right in the sequence: 4|3|2|1.
Factory Preset
and *RST:
Normal
Numeric Data format
:FORMat[:TRACe][:DATA] ASCii|INTeger,32|REAL,32|REAL,64
:FORMat[:TRACe][:DATA]?
Changes the format of the data input and output. This command affects
only the data format for setting and querying trace data for the
command
:TRACe[:DATA]
and query
:TRACe[:DATA]?
NOTE
It specifies the format used for trace data during data transfer across
any remote port. REAL and ASCII formats will format trace data in the
current amplitude units. INTeger format will format the trace data in
mdBm.
For limit line and amplitude correction data, ASCII is the only format
supported.
For state data, the format cannot be changed. It is always in a machine
readable format only.
The fastest mode is
INTeger
formatting.
