Noisy
There are so many reasons why a machine would become noisy, here are a few: If the
machine sounds like a jet engine when it spins then it is more than likely the bearings,
if there is a grating noise when it turns then either there is something inside, or the
heater has come adrift from it’s fixing and is rubbing on the drum. If there is a lot of
movement in the drum as it washes it is possible one of the stabilizer legs have come
adrift or broken. The pump could be another source to check out depending on just
when the noise is audible. i.e. if it is when the machine fills it probably wont be the
pump but if it is when the machine empties or spins it could be. Some of the motors
fitted to these machines were extra noisy, so it could be that, or if you are getting a
tapping type noise check for loose wiring or anything that could hit against the
cabinet during the wash or spin.
Machine is over filling
The problem here is the pressure switch is not operating, this can have a number of
causes, either the switch is faulty,(which can be checked by metering across terminals
11 and 14 while blowing into the switch via the pressure pipe connection), if they
register, the switch is OK if they don’t replace it. There could be a hole in the
pressure pipe or it has come off, or the most common reason is the pressure chamber
is blocked. A close inspection of the hose should tell if it is OK or not, whereas the
chamber has to be removed and washed out to clear it.
Machine keeps filling
For the machine to keep filling it would indicate that there is a siphoning problem.
Check the outlet hose is not running along the ground, it has to rise up then loop back
down or the water will just run straight down the drain. If the problem only happens
after the first pump out it would indicate the end of the outlet hose is lower than the
drum or there is no air break around the outlet hose. (The stand pipe should be larger
in diameter than the hose from the machine).
Not taking in fabric conditioner
To dispense the fabric conditioner from the drawer both the cold valves must operate
at the same time, if either one dose not work the conditioner is left behind.(If there is
water in the conditioner compartment after the wash has finished this is OK and
nothing to worry about)
Water boils
This happens when the thermistor goes open circuit. Check for broken wires on or
connecting to the thermistor, if they are all OK then it could mean the heater will
need replacing as the thermistor is an integral part of it.
