16.6 Clean the machine
Ø
Clean the machine thoroughly at regular intervals and after the end of the sea-
son.
Ø
Wear the necessary protective outfit when performing any work to protect
your health and safety.
Ø Close fertiliser hopper and seed hopper.
Ø
Clean the outside of the machine with water. Open the fall sluice under the
metering unit so that entered water can flow off.
Ø
Clean the fertiliser metering unit, the distributors and hoses of the pneumatic
system. Leave the fall sluice open for drying.
Ø Clean the rotors inside the fertiliser metering unit with a brush and com-
pressed air.
Ø
Blow out coulters, seed lines, seed hopper, metering unit and fan with com-
pressed air.
Ø
Open the cover on the drill frame and clean out thoroughly with compressed
air. The frame serves the Overpressure distribution, it may therefore contain
residues of seed or dressing.
Ø
Clean the barrels with the brush.
Ø
Empty and disassemble the single grain metering units, clean with compressed
air and brush and check for wear. Do not clean with water!
Ø Flush the components thoroughly after using solid fertiliser. Fertiliser is very
aggressive and causes corrosion.
Ø
For pneumatic brakes: Drain the air reservoir.
NOTE
Ø
Do not clean electrical components, hydraulic cylinders and bearings with a
high pressure cleaner or direct water jet.
Housings, screw fittings and bearings are not waterproof under high pressure.
Ø
Clean every day when in use.
