Fault Code
Description
0000
The microprocessor was reset due to the microprocessor watchdog. This is most likely
to occurs as a result of electrical disturbance, but may also happen due to a failure of
I001, I002 or I003 (where fitted).
0001
The power good line was activated (taken to ground) whilst the set was powered up.
0002
The protection line was activated (taken to ground) whilst the set was powered up.
0003
Failure of the horizontal deflection. This fault code is set when the horizontal OSD sync
pulse on pin 49 of I001 is missing when the set is powered up.
0004
Failure of the vertical deflection. This fault code is set when the vertical OSD sync pulse
on pin 48 of I001 is missing when the set is powered up.
0005
Timeout of the black current stabilisation when the set was powering up. This will occur
as a result of a failure of the RGB circuits between the TDA9330 (IE02 pins 40-42),
P302, the CRT base PWB and the feedback signal via P302 to IE02 pin 44.
0006
Failure of the microprocessor to communicate on the I2C bus as either/both of the
SDA/SCL signals were shorted to ground or +5V
0007
The set failed to power up after 3 attempts. The reason for this will be evident from the
other fault codes.
0008
The microprocessor had a power on reset, usually as a result of failure of the standby
5V supply or the main power supply shut down (due to overcurrent protection) when the
set was powered up. The count for this fault is incremented when the microprocessor is
reset and is cleared when the TV successfully powers up.
0009
EHT overvoltage (X-Ray protection) detected. This fault occurs as a result of a voltage
greater than 4 volts at the EHT compensation input (pin 4) of IE02.
000a
Flash over detected. This fault occurs as a result of a voltage greater than 2 volts at pin
5 of IE02 (TDA9330).
000b
The microprocessor failed to communicate with the EEPROM (I005) due to a failure of
that device or the I2C bus connections.
000c
The DTT fan failure detection line was activated (taken to ground) for 10 seconds while
the DTT module was powered up (digital models only). This is detected at pin 32 of
I001.
000d
The TV received no signal for 10 minutes when in digital (where appropriate) or RF
modes. This could be a problem with the aerial or a fault in the tuner module or circuitry
around I200.
000e
(Dolby Digital sets only) Internal failure of the Dolby Digital decoder module.
Codes 01xx indicate a failure of I2C control of a device, where xx identifies that device. The supported codes are as
follows.
0184
The microprocessor failed to control the MSP3410 sound processor (I400).
018a
The microprocessor failed to control the TDA9320 input processor (I200).
018c
The microprocessor failed to control the TDA9330 output processor (IE02).
Codes 02xx indicate an internal reset of an I2C controlled device, the xx identifies that device. The device codes are the
same as the corresponding 01xx code. The supported codes are as follows.
0284
A power on reset of the MSP3410 sound processor (I400) was detected.
028a
A power on reset of the TDA9320 input processor (I200) was detected.
028c
A power on reset of the TDA9330 output processor (IE02) was detected.
Codes 0300 are related to the DTT module. These are only applicable to IDTV sets.
0300
The TV microprocessor failed to communicate with the DTT Module via the RS232 link.
This could be due to failure of the DTT power supply, the cable connections between
the TV and DTT modules or a fault internal to the DTT module.
0301
The DTT Module reported a failure of the AV memory.
0302
The DTT Module reported a non-volatile memory failure.
0304
The DTT Module reported a failure of the PAL encoder.
0305
The DTT Module reported a failure of the Front End Demodulator.
0306
The DTT Module reported a failure of the Front End FEC.
0307
The DTT Module reported a failure of the AFE Tuner.
0308
The DTT Module reported a failure of the Altera device (IC400).
0309
The DTT Module reported a failure of the modem.
030a
The DTT Module reported a failure of the smartcard interface.
030b
The DTT Module reported a signal/picture failure.
As stated above, a status value will be stored for each fault. The status values consist of the following information: -
A count of the number of times that the fault has been detected. This counts up to 9 and stops. This number will only be increased
once every time the TV is powered up.
Indication of how recent the fault was. A value of 7 means the fault is the most recent, to have occurred, value of 0 means the fault
is the least recent.
