3.8 Vertical milling
• Close the front and lateral enclosure doors.
• Select the operating mode "Manual".
• Position the spindle by entering the M-function M
29. The axis moves to the best mounting position
and the screen shows the message "PROTECTIVE
COVER".
• The front enclosure doors are released
automatically. Open them as far as possible.
• Remove the large protective cover [4] .
• Message of the TNC "SWIVEL OUT V-HEAD".
• Thorougly clean the fastening surfaces to remove
dirt and coolant lubricant and slightly oil them with
an acid-free oil before swivelling out the vertical
milling head.
• Turn the release lever [3] to the left and pull the
vertical milling head forward until it engages.
• Slowly swivel the milling head by 90° to the
downside, until the fastening surfaces are parallel.
• Turn the release lever to the left, push the vertical
milling head strongly against the front of the spindle
slide and tighten the four fastening screws [2].
• The message "Swivel out the V-head" disappears
• The machine is switched over to the vertical spindle
by pulling the V-head out of its parking position. .
• Attach the small protective cover [1] to the four pins
[5] .
Note
Never turn at the spindle when swivelling in or out, as
this will change the spindle position from the V-head
to the spindle and the V-head cannot be swivelled out.
If the EMERGENCY OFF is operated while swivelling
in or out the V-head , please note the message of the
TNC.
If your machine has a hydraulic clamping (optional
available) screwing and unscrewing of the fastening
screws is not necessary.
