4.9 Internal Coolant Supply
through Spindle
The coolant lubricant container of the UWF is
positioned under the cabin. It can be inserted from
the front side into a recess of the cabin and it
contains 240 l of coolant lubricant. The container is
equipped with casters and can be pulled out, when
empty, after the pump has been swivelled up, in
order to be cleaned. The coolant lubricant container
is used to accumulate the coolant lubricant which is
then pumped into the
coolant tank for clean coolant
lubricant via a pump. This pump is triggered by a
level switch. When the feeler reaches a horizontal
position, the pump is switched on, after the level of
the coolant lubricant has dropped 45 mm, or in case
of an EMERGANCY STOP, the pump is switched
off.
Note
In case an EMERGANCY STOP is activated during
the pump is in operation, the pump will be switched
off. After switching on the control unit (axis drives
are activated), the pump will resume the operation
immediately.
The filter unit/coolant tank for clean coolant lubricant
is equipped with two pumps. For standard coolant
supply the regular pump for clean coolant lubricant
is used, for internal coolant supply through the
spindle the high pressure pump (
screw spindle pump)
is used.
Topping up coolant lubricant
When starting up the machine the filter unit tank is
filled with coolant lubricant up to the upper edge of the
level indicator (approx. 340L). The tank below the
cabin of the machine will not be filled.
Note
The capacity of the two tanks together is 380L coolant
lubricant maximum. Otherwise it may happen that the
tank of the gravity filter band unit overflows.
Float switch
The float switch is located on the support plate near
by the coolant lubricant pump and controls this pump.
It prevents an overflow and switches on the pump
when the coolant tank is approx. 2/3 filled. The pump
forwards the coolant lubricant into the gravity filter
band unit until the float switch switches off.
Adjust the Float Switch
• Adjust the submerged pump to the measure 135 by
loosening the two hexagonal nuts and tighten them.
• Adjust the floating body to the measure 90 by
loosening the two screwed cable glants and retighten
the screwed cable glants.
The internal coolant supply can be activated in two
pressure steps (20 bar and 40 bar).
The high pressure pump is controlled via the M-
functions:
• M50 internal coolant supply 20 bar ON
• M51 internal coolant supply 40 bar ON
• M52 internal coolant supply OFF
The internal coolant supply can only be activated
with closed cabin doors and with the spindle standing
still. During the operation it is not allowed to switch
on the coolant flow, as the seals could be damaged
due to a cold shock.
Note
Only use tools which are intended for the internal
coolant supply. If a tool is changed with "TOOL CALL",
M03/M04 and the function "Internal coolant supply"
will be deleted. After each "TOOL CALL" the functions
M03/M04 and M50/M51 must be programmed again.
Gravity Filter Band Unit
The drive for the filter band is controlled by a level
switch. The switch which controlls the end of the
filter band also switches off the drive for the filter
band.
For further information please see the manuals of
the gravity filter band unit, high pressure band etc.
Note
All information and instructions of the manuals need
to be observed at all times.
