Understanding and addressing
operational issues
This section describes issues that you may experience while using the incubator, explains possible causes,
and provides actions you can take to correct them. If a problem remains, you may need to contact a
qualified service technician to troubleshoot and address the problem.
For problems specific to an agitator that you have installed in the incubator, refer to the Operation Manual
for your agitator. For problems specific to the chart recorder, refer to the Chart Recorder Operation Manual.

Addressing general operation problems
Problem

The display on the
monitoring system is
hard to read (applies to
i.Series models only).
The screen contrast is
set too low.

Change the screen contrast. For instructions,
see Section 6.5, “Adjusting the screen
contrast.”
The monitoring system
is not responding
(applies to i.Series
models only).
Digital electronics are
locked because of an
interruption in power.

Reset the monitoring system. For instructions,
see Section 8.6, “Resetting the i.Center
monitoring system.”
A roll-out shelf does not
slide easily (applies to
PC2200 and PC3200
models only).
There is debris in the
shelf slides.
►
Pull the shelf out and confirm that the slides
are free of debris. Clean if necessary.
The shelf slides are not
lubricated.
►
Using a lightweight oil, lubricate the bearings
in the slides.
A drawer slide is faulty.
►
Contact a qualified service technician.
A drawer does not
slide easily (applies to
PC4200 models only).
There is debris in the
slots of the drawer
guides.
►
Pull the drawer out and confirm that the slots
are free of debris. Clean if necessary.
The drawers are not
lubricated.

Clean and lubricate the drawers. For more
information, see Section 7.4.1, “Maintaining
drawers.”
A door does not open
easily (applies to PC100
and floor models only).
There is debris in the
hinges.
►
Confirm that the hinges are free of debris.
Clean the hinges if necessary.
The door hinges are not
lubricated.
►
Using a general-purpose grease, lubricate the
pivots in the hinges.
A hinge cam is faulty.
►
Contact a qualified service technician.
The hood does not open
easily (applies to PC900
and PC1200 models only).
The damping cylinder or
hood hinge is faulty.
►
Contact a qualified service technician.
The incubator does not
roll easily (applies to
floor models only).
One or more casters are
locked
►
Unlock the casters. Push the incubator from the
sides, not from the front or back.
