Maintaining the incubator
To test the door open alarm
1
Identify the current setting for the Door Ajar Timeout.

Change the setting to zero minutes. For instructions, see Section 4.4.2, “Changing the setpoints for the
door open and power failure alarms.”

Open the incubator door. The door open alarm should activate immediately, causing the following to
happen: the audible alarm sounds, the Door Open message appears on the HOME screen, and an event
is added to the event log indicating that the door open alarm condition started.

Close the incubator door. The door open alarm should clear, causing the following to happen: the
audible alarm clears, the Door Open message clears from the HOME screen and an event is added to
the event log indicating that the door open alarm condition reset.

Change the setting back to the original value.

Testing the No Battery alarm

This section only applies to i.Series models.

WARNING:
Removing the access panel from the incubator exposes you to the risk of electric
shock. Regulations for your organization may require that only designated
service personnel remove the access panel. Follow the guidelines for your
organization.

CAUTION:
Testing the No Battery alarm requires that you turn off the power to the incubator,
which may affect the chamber temperature. Before testing the alarm, take precautions
to protect items in the incubator from extended exposure to adverse temperatures.
You can test the No Battery alarm to ensure that it activates if the backup batteries for the monitoring
system are missing or if the charge is so low that the batteries are not detectable.
To test the No Battery alarm

Turn off the incubator and disconnect it from AC power.

On the top of the incubator, remove the access panel.

From the battery holder for the monitoring system, remove a battery.

Connect the incubator to AC power.

Turn on the incubator. The No Battery alarm should activate, causing the following to happen: the
audible alarm sounds, the No Battery message appears on the HOME screen, and an event is added to
the event log indicating that the No Battery alarm was started.

Turn off the incubator and disconnect it from AC power.

Insert the battery into the battery holder.

Connect the incubator to AC power.

Turn on the incubator. The No Battery alarm should clear, causing the following to happen: the audible
alarm clears, the No Battery message clears from the HOME screen, and an event is added to the event
log indicating that the No Battery alarm was reset.

Install the access panel.
