Maintaining the incubator
5
Select the Monitor offset parameter and adjust the value.
a
With the temperature controller in Level 3 program mode, press and release the Up or Down arrow
button until the Zero parameter and its value flash on the display.
b
To change the value: While holding the button on the left (*), use the Up and Down arrow buttons
to adjust the value in increments of 0.1 °C.
c
When you are done adjusting the value, release all the buttons. The value is changed.
6
Exit Level 3 program mode by pressing and holding the Up and Down arrow buttons simultaneously
for about three seconds until the current chamber temperature appears on the display.
7
Allow the chamber temperature to stabilize, then verify that the readout is acceptable. Repeat the
calibration process if necessary.
8
Remove the independent thermometer from the chamber.
7.7
Calibrating temperature readings on the i.Center
NOTE:
►
This section only applies to i.Series models.
►
Refer to the policy for your organization to determine how much variance is
acceptable. If the variance is within acceptable limits for your organization,
you may not need to change the probe settings.
To ensure that the temperature alarms are activated properly, the readings for the temperature monitoring
probe must be accurate. The reading for the lower probe in PC3200i and PC4200i models should also be
accurate. After determining the appropriate temperature from an independent thermometer, you can change
the value displayed on the monitor for the temperature probes.
The default value set by the factory for each temperature probe is 22.0 °C. Although the temperature control
range for the incubator is 20 °C to 35 °C, available values for calibration are from -40 °C to +40 °C, inclusive.
You must have the following to complete this procedure:
►
Thermometer. The thermometer must be independent of the incubator, and be calibrated and traceable
according to the policy of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), or to the equivalent
national or international measuring equipment standards as identified in regulations for your organization.
To calibrate the readings
1
Verify that the incubator has been placed properly, and allow it to run for at least 30 minutes to stabilize
the chamber temperature. For more information, see Section 3.3, “Selecting an appropriate location.”
2
Measure the temperature in the chamber.
a
Place the independent thermometer in the chamber in the appropriate location, as follows:
Model
Location
PC100
Front, top right corner
PC900, PC1200
Back, right bottom corner
PC2200
Next to the upper temperature probe
PC3200
Upper reading: next to the upper temperature monitoring probe
Lower reading: next to the lower temperature monitoring probe
PC4200
Upper or lower reading: In the middle drawer on the right side
b
Allow the chamber temperature to stabilize. This can take as long as 30 minutes.
c
Obtain the reading from the independent thermometer.
