ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
can be eliminated by a calibration, however, the temperature‐dependent part remains.
The TK
c
value given in the specifications for the transducer therefore does not apply for
the cable and transducer combination when connection is with four‐wire configuration,
the cable percentage must be added.
8.3
Shortening the cable
As the transducer connection uses a six‐wire configuration, you can shorten the 6‐wire
transducer cable without affecting the measurement accuracy.
8.4
Extension cable
The cable of a six‐wire force transducer can be extended with a cable of the same type.
Only use shielded, low‐capacitance measurement cables for extension. Ensure that con
nection is perfect, with a low contact resistance.
8.5
EMC protection
Electrical and magnetic fields often induce interference voltages in the measuring circuit.
Therefore:
S
Use shielded, low‐capacitance measurement cables only (HBM cables fulfill both con
ditions).
S
Do not route the measurement cables parallel to power lines and control circuits. If
this is not possible, protect the measurement cable withsteel conduits, for example.
S
Avoid stray fields from transformers, motors and contact switches.
S
Do not ground the transducer, amplifier and indicator more than once.
S
Connect all devices in the measuring chain to the same protective earth conductor.
