6.5 Avoiding condensation in the motor
If the liquid temperature falls below the ambient
temperature, condensation may form in the motor
during standstill. Condensation can occur in moist
surroundings or areas with high humidity.
In such cases, use a motor suitable for condensing
environments such as an IPX5 motor available from
Grundfos.
Alternatively, open the bottom drain hole in the motor
flange by removing the plug. See fig.
. This reduces
the motor enclosure class to IPX5.

The open drain hole helps prevent condensation in
the motor as it makes the motor self-venting and
allows water and humid air to escape.
When you install the pump outdoors, provide the
motor with a cover to avoid condensation. See fig.
