Cylinder Assembly
1. Firmly hold the piston rod in a soft jawed vice.
2. Spray the piston end of the piston rod with
“Locktite” 7471 primer (see below).
3. Apply “Locktite 603” retaining compound to the
piston rod (see below).
4. Slide the piston onto the piston rod up to the
shoulder, then rotate the piston 2 to 3 times to
ensure a complete coating of “Locktite” to both
surfaces. Then apply “Locktite” to the piston rod
threaded area (see below).
5. Replace and tighten the piston retaining nut (see
below).
6. Firmly clamp the piston rod vertically in a soft
jawed vice. Using a center punch, deform the
thread in two places to securely lock the piston
retaining nut (see below).
CAUTION: Be sure to put the Gland retainer
and Gland bearing onto the piston rod first
before attaching the piston and piston
retaining nut (see below).
