6.5 PUMP REASSEMBLY
Reassembly of the pump is simply a reversal of the
previous procedure taking care to assemble the parts
in the same order.
Replace the front and rear face seals on the bearing
blocks, then install the new shaft seal into the front
flange as follows:
The metal insert (see above) of the new shaft seal is to
face outwards when installed.
Use a short tube approximately 27 mm outside dia. or
a suitably size socket wrench socket as a mandrel for
pushing the seal into the front flange recess.
Partially enter the seal using hand pressure to ensure
the seal is square with the bore of the seal recess.
Using the vice carefully and slowly press the seal into
the recess until you feel the pressure of it “Bottoming
out”. Do not use excessive force. Remove the flange
from the vice and visually check the reverse side to see
that the seal is fully seated. Check also that the full
width of the snap ring groove is visible.
Replace the shaft seal retaining snap ring.
