1. ALL WIRES 24 AWG OR LARGER UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED.
2. AT GARMIN AT EQUIPMENT CONNECT SHIELD GROUNDS TO THE REAR OF THE MOUNTING
FRAME ON THE CONNECTOR PLATE -- THE SHIELD LEADS MUST BE LESS THAN 3.0 ". UNLESS
OTHERWISE NOTED, CONNECT OTHER SHIELD GROUNDS TO AIRCRAFT CHASSIS WITH AS
SHORT A CONDUCTOR AS PRACTICAL.
3. CNX80 SERIAL PORT CONFIGURATION (RX / TX):
SERIAL PORT 1: MAPMX / MAPMX
SERIAL PORT 5: SL30 / MAPCOM
SERIAL PORT 6: SL70 / SL70
SERIAL PORT 8: ALT ENC / ---
4. MX20 EXTERNAL DATA SOURCE CONFIGURATION:
EXTERNAL GPS POSITION SOURCE: PORT 1
ALTITUDE SOURCE: PORT 1
NAV SOURCE: NONE
5. THE SL70/SL70R MUST HAVE SOFTWARE VERSION 1.X OR HIGHER IF IT IS DESIRED TO HAVE
THE CNX80 REMOTELY CONTROL IT.
SL70 SERIAL PORT CONFIGURATION:
ALT SOURCE: GRAY
BAUD: 9600
TX: EXT
SL70R: PIN 36 GROUNDED TO PIN 28 TO SELECT GRAY CODE ALTITUDE INPUT.
6. FOR REDUNDANCY, THE CNX80 AND SL70/70R SHOULD EACH HAVE ALTITUDE INPUT DIRECTLY.
IF NO GRAY CODE ALTITUDE IS AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE TO THE TRANSPONDER, IT IS
RECOMMENDED THAT THE CNX80 NOT BE USED TO CONTROL THE TRANSPONDER, AND SERIAL
ALTITUDE BE PROVIDED TO BOTH THE CNX80 AND SL70 (THE SL70 SERIAL PORT
CONFIGURATION WILL HAVE TO BE CHANGED TO
"ALT SOURCE: SER" IN THIS CASE). THIS ALTERNATIVE CANNOT BE USED WITH THE SL70R,
SINCE THE CNX80
MUST
REMOTELY CONTROL IT. IN THIS CASE, SERIAL ALTITUDE MAY BE
PROVIDED TO THE CNX80, AND THE CNX80 USED TO PROVIDE ALTITUDE TO THE SL70R
(ALTHOUGH REDUNDANCY IS LOST WHEN THIS IS DONE). IF THE CNX80 IS USED TO PROVIDE
ALTITUDE, THE SL70R GRAY CODE ALT PGM PIN 36 MUST BE LEFT OPEN.
7. ALTITUDE ENCODERS ARE NOT GARMIN AT-PROVIDED EQUIPMENT. REFER TO THE
APPROPRIATE ENCODER INSTALLATION MANUAL TO ENSURE PROPER CONNECTIONS.
8. SHIELDS FOR AUDIO CABLES SHOULD BE GROUNDED AT ONE END AND LEFT FLOATING AT THE
OTHER END. IF SHIELDED AUDIO CABLE IS CARRIED THROUGH DISCONNECT, CARRY SHIELD
GROUND THROUGH DISCONNECT ON SEPARATE PIN.
9. IF THE CNX80 MESSAGE AUDIO OUTPUT IS CONNECTED TO AN UNSWITCHED AUDIO INPUT, IT IS
RECOMMENDED THAT THE THE SL15 AUDIO ACTIVE OUTPUT BE CONNECTED. THIS OUTPUT IS
ONLY AVAILABLE ON CERTAIN SL15 AUDIO PANELS. ALTERNATE CONNECTIONS ARE SHOWN
ON THE SL10/SL15 AUDIO PANEL INTERCONNECT DRAWING. CONSULT THIS INTERCONNECT
DRAWING AND THE APPROPRIATE INSTALLATION MANUAL FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
THESE SIGNALS ALSO GO TO THE AUTOPILOT AS APPROPRIATE.
11. THIS DIAGRAM IS PROVIDED TO SHOW THE INTERCONNECTION BETWEEN GARMIN AT UNITS.
FULL WIRING DIAGRAMS FOR EACH UNIT ARE PROVIDED IN THE APPROPRIATE INSTALLATION
MANUALS. REFER TO ALL DOCUMENTATION TO ENSURE SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION.
REFER TO SL10/SL15 AUDIO PANEL INTERCONNECT DIAGRAM FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
ABOUT CONNECTING THE PA MUTE OUTPUT.
