The effective right of the
Mux config
and
Change own password
rights results from the
rights assigned to the user groups. The
CPU access
right which, in this case, enables
full access to a connected computer, was assigned directly in the user account.
Efficient use of user groups
With the help of user groups, you can create a shared rights profile for several users
with the same access rights and add these user accounts to the group’s member list.
This means, you don‘t have to configure the rights of each user account indivi-
dually, and it is easier for you to manage the rights on the KVM switch.
Managing user accounts
Creating a new user account
You can create up to 256 user accounts on the KVM switch.
Each holder of a user account has individual login information, rights and user-rela-
ted settings.
How to create a new user account:
1. Open the on-screen display by pressing the hotkey
Ctrl+Num
(default).
2. Press
F11
to open the
Configuration
menu.
3. Select the row
Users
and press
Enter
.
4. Press
F3
and enter the following information under
Add user
:
5. Press
F2
to save your settings and to create the user account.
NOTE:
For better differentiation, the user administration menus show individual
and effective rights in different colours:
Individual rights are displayed in
yellow
.
Effective rights are displayed in
green
.
Name:
Username of the new account
Password:
Password of the new account
Repeat:
Repeat the new password
IMPORTANT:
The new user account has neither configuration nor access rights.
Before using a user account, add it to an existing user group or assign it with indivi-
dual rights.
