corresponding image on the touchscreen is an upward movement from the workpiece sur-
face. If the welding torch enters the area of transition to the mirror image, a flicker effect
may occur.
Travel Speed
The trainee practises guiding the welding torch at the correct speed and in the correct po-
sition. Proceed as follows:
Bring the tip of the torch to the target point until it turns green, indicating that the po-
sition is correct.
Guide the welding torch so that the ball on the torch tip is always in the centre of the
target point.
The colour of this ball (GHOST) shows how accurately the welding torch is being guided.
-
Green: very good
-
Yellow: within the tolerance
-
Red: outside the tolerance - requires correction!

Speed / Stick out
In addition to the welding speed, the trainee also practises guiding the welding torch to
the workpiece with the correct stick out.
The colour of the distance arrow (GHOST) shows how accurately the welding torch is be-
ing guided.
-
Green: very good
-
Yellow: within the tolerance
-
Red: outside the tolerance - requires correction!
Always choose the stick out of the welding torch relative to the workpiece so that the dis-
tance arrow stays green and the torch tip is always inside the target circle.
Speed / Stick out / Po-
sition
In addition to the welding speed and stick out, the trainee also practises guiding the weld-
ing torch with the torch in the correct position. If the welding torch points upwards too
much, a red direction arrow (GHOST) points downwards or vice versa. A cross indicates
the optimum welding torch position.
-
Green: optimum position
-
Yellow: within the tolerance
-
Red: outside the tolerance - requires correction!
Simulation with fixed
parameters
The simulation provides a representation of real welding, with visualisation of the arc and
of the formation of the weld seam. The welding parameters of wire speed, amperage and
voltage are pre-set for this task. The trainee guides the welding torch freely, without re-
ceiving any guidance.
Simulation with varia-
ble parameters
For the welding parameters of welding voltage and welding current, the trainee sets ap-
propriate values for the task. The trainee guides the welding torch freely, without being
guided by a target object. Once the correct parameters have been set, the simulation be-
gins.
