8.3 Glue pots and settings
Fig. 13: Set glue quantity
To increase the quantity of glue it is necessary to
turn anticlockwise the knob, to reduce turn the knob
clockwise. When adjusting it is advisable to increase the
glue gradually.
Because of the critical operational conditions the glue
pot is placed under great strain. Depending on the type
of the glue, working temperatures may be around
210 degress C (410 degrees F).
Attention! We would like to emphasise the importance of choosing the correct glue. The product selected
must be of the highest quality and designed for the automatic glueing of edges. Use suitable glues with a
viscosity between 70,000 mPa.s and 110,000 mPa.s and with a thrust speed between 10 and 20n/min.
These values are especially important to ensure that the machine operates correctly and the edges are well
glued.
• The temperature regulator should be set to the
temperature indicated by the manufacturer of the
glue.
• To ensure that the glue maintains its quality, the glue
pot must be kept at operational temperature for as
short periods as possible.
• We advise that the glue pot is not completely filled:
keep the level of glue constant and replenish in small
quantities.
• The level of glue is indicated by the two ridges on
the pot: they must be covered with little glue.
8.3.1 Set glue quantity
The glue pot has the function to reach correct temperatu-
re to dissolve the hot-melt glue inside the glue pot, which
is then spread on the panel. When the machine is con-
nected electrically, the main switch is on I/ON, the glue
pot starts heating up. The glue spreading roller is powe-
red with the chain feeding system, therefore the rotation
of the roller functions only when the temperature of the
glue pot is over 190° and the button has been pushed to
start up the chain feeder.
When machine is under emergency (used push-button
and rear closure open) the glue spreader stops turning
but the heating of the glue continues. Fill up the glue
pot with granular hot-melt glue until approximately 1 cm
under the edge of the pot. N.B. Make sure that the type
of glue used is compatible with types of glue indicated,
conditions and technical characteristics of machine.
