Basic Operations
Workflow for Correct
Printing
Follow the instructions below to print correctly on
your media.
1. Register media settings to the printer and
print information to the RIP
Register the media settings to the printer based on the
characteristics of your media, and register the print
information in the RIP.
Epson provides an EMX file that combines media settings
and print information for most major commercially
available media.
You can easily perform the following operations in
wizard format using the software RIP "Epson Edge Print"
supplied with the printer.
❏

See the following for details.

“Printing with the appropriate settings for the media
being used (printing using EMX)” on page 37
2. Set the RIP for jobs with a print length longer
than three hours so that it is within three hours
The printer cannot print continuously for more than
three hours. The print length that you can print within
three hours depends on the number of passes set in the
print quality of the RIP.
See the following for more information on the print
length determined by the number of passes. Also, see
the following for more information on making a job fit
within three hours.

“Print Lengths by Pass Number and Creating a Job”
3. Load media into the printer and make media
settings
Load the media, select the number to which you
registered the media settings in step 1, and then enter
the media length.

4. Attach the media to the Auto Take-up Reel Unit
To print while winding up the media, you need to attach
the media to the Auto Take-up Reel Unit.
U
“Using the Auto Take-up Reel Unit” on page 55
5. Optimize the media settings (when using new
media)
Perform this once before using the media settings
registered to the printer in step 1.
Optimize the media settings (Print Adjustments) to
correct individual differences in your media and printer
so that you can perform optimal printing using your
media and printer combination.

“Optimizing Media Settings (Automatic Adjustment)”
6. Check the status of the printer
Before staring work, check the amount of ink remaining
and the status of the nozzles for the print head.

7. Print
