3.2.2. Bin Full Sensor
To prevent commodity from overflowing the bins, each lower cabinet has a bin full sensors. If a
sensor detects that a bin is full, the machine stops collecting the commodity whose bin is full. If the
machine only collects one type of container, and its bin is full, the machine goes out of service and
displays an appropriate message. If the machine collects two or three types of containers, the
machine continues to function, collecting any containers whose bin is not full.
FLEX Bin Full Sensor
In the
FLEX
, the bin full sensor comprises an emitter and a receiver. These components are attached
to the shelf of the upper cabinet. When looking into the lower cabinet from the door (whether it is
in the rear or the front of the machine), the emitter and receiver are located towards the front of the
upper cabinet.
FLEX TRI and FLEX HDS Bin Full Sensor
In the
FLEX TRI
and
FEX HDS
,
the bin full sensor is an ultrasonic sensor that is installed in the top
cabinet. It faces the bottom of the commodity bins and measures the distance from the sensor to the
top of the pile of commodity. The software considers the commodity bin to be full if the top of the
pile is less than 12 inches (30 cm) away from the sensor. See Figure 3-8 for the
FEX HDS
Bin Full
sensor locations.
3.2.3. FLEX Cabinets
The
FLEX RVM
s have two front doors: one on the bottom that covers the commodity bins and one
on the top. An access panel on each side of the machine facilitates machine maintenance and
service. For safety reasons, sponsors and customers are not permitted to open the side access
panels. The bottom of the cabinet features four levelers and four casters. The rear casters are fixed
and the front casters swivel. Figure 3-3 shows the
FLEX
cabinet and its components.
