6.

Sorting Cylinder, which turns to push the container into the compactor.
7.

8.
The crushed container falls into the bin below.
9.
The
RVM
gives credit to the customer for the container.
10.
When done redeeming containers, the customer presses the payment button.
11.
The printer prints a voucher.
2.2.2. Container Accounting
The
FLEX
contains a list of acceptable beverage containers in a bar code database. Envipco gathers
this information from the machine’s sponsor and beverage distributors and makes updates to the
machines when necessary. The
FLEX
also keeps track of the brands and number of containers that
the machine processes. Envipco’s Data Accounting System
(
DAS
)
uses this data to pay the
customer and to generate invoices.
2.2.3. Service Interruptions
If the
FLEX
malfunctions while in use and money is due to the customer, the
FLEX
automatically
prints a voucher to pay the customer before going out of service. In the case of a power outage, the
machine retains the amount due to the customer. When the machine turns on, the customer can push
the payment button to print a payment voucher. The software prevents double payment if a machine
malfunctions or shuts down. In the case of a printer malfunction, the amount due to the customer
remains on the display until the printer is fixed and prints a receipt.
