to the motor terminal box connections, and remove any surge
capacitors found.
10.2.1.6 High di/dt due to power factor correction
capacitors (PFCC)
RVSS systems can have power factor correction capacitors present,
but they must be disconnected during a soft start sequence.
The
RVSS has control provisions for controlling a contactor to switch the
PFCCs in and out of the power circuit as appropriate
, but the control
must be configured to provide that feature. Check to be sure that
the controller is configured for PFCC contactor control.
Also, PFCCs when applied on RVSS must have series inductors in
their circuit to avoid SCR di/dt damage.
Never connect PFC capacitors on the output of the RVSS. If
furnished from the factory, they will be wired through a contactor
to the load side of the main contactor. The PFCC contactor will be
activated by the BCM programmed ladder logic.
10.2 Running Faults
Stan: We need to add a great deal of attention to fault codes,
possible reasons, and what to do following a fault. I will supply you
this information in the coming weeks.
