Figure 87. Connect Ampgard RVSS device to Modbus Serial.
With the Ampgard RVSS device attached, the Modbus Serial - Set
Address window will appear. Use this window to set the BCM's
Modbus slave address on the Modbus serial bus. The default
address is 1, and unless that conflicts with some other device on
the serial bus, you can leave it as shown and click
Set
to save it. If
there is a conflict, assign another address (see
).

Address).
The final step in establishing Modbus serial communication is to
select the Ampgard RVSS device in the Network View, and then
click the
Connect
icon on the inControl DEVICE tab. This will initiate
communications between the inControl Ampgard RVSS device and
the PC inControl app using Modbus Serial. In all cases, the Slave
Address will be 1 when using one of the micro USB ports on the
C445. If using the RS-485 serial port, the node address of the C445
could be any value from 1to 253. If that is the case, the actual
address of the C445 must be entered here.

if using the USB/Micro USB connection: Following disconnecting the
software from the C445, the only way to connect to the C445 again is to also
disconnect the Modbus serial driver, then physically unplug the USB cable
from the computer, and then plug it in again. Connect to the C445 DTM again
as described above.
If the connection is
successful, the Ampgard RVSS device status
bar with go from gray to green. If
unsuccessful, the status bar
will go from gray to yellow (see
). In that case, check
your port settings on both sides - the Windows Device Manager
Port Properties Port Settings, and the inControl Modbus Serial
configuration. You can invoke the Modbus Serial configuration
window by double-clicking the Modbus Serial device in the Network
View window.
After correcting any mismatches, click
Connect
once again. When successful,
Ampgard RVSS device status bar will change from yellow to green (see
). Now you can download the BCM's current settings for review
and/or modification, or use inControl to input new settings, by first putting
them into the PC application and then downloading them to the BCM.
