18.0 Self-Preservation 

The SmartVue is equipped with an internal heater that allows the LCD display to operate 
at lower temperatures than would otherwise be possible.  Once the internal temperature 
drops to a certain point the heater will automatically turn on so that the LCD display, and 
thus controllability of the unit, is maintained.  Thus, it is normal that the unit will draw 
more power in colder temperatures. 

Also, as noted in Section 17.1 

Display Brightness, the SmartVue will automatically limit 

the maximum brightness to a value lower than the user’s setting to prolong the life of the 
LCD's backlight.  The message, "High Temperature! Brightness limited to 

x%" will be 

displayed on the Brightness configuration screen when this occurs.  

x is the temporary 

brightness limit percentage.
