Precautions/Contraindications
WARNING:
•
Do not perform a test when short term disconnection of ventilatory support for
connection of measurement lines may result in hypoxemia, bradycardia, or other
adverse effects.
•
When adding any components to the breathing system, the flow resistance and
dead space of the added components such as Flow-REE, in-line filters or adapters
should be carefully considered in relation to the potential for adverse effects on
the patient’s ventilatory management and ventilator alarms. For components
characteristics please refer to “Hardware specifications”.
•
Manipulation of the ventilator circuit may cause leaks that may lower alveolar
ventilation.
•
Any inhaler/nebulizer must be disconnected prior measurement.
•
Maximum allowable PIP values during test execution is 30 cmH2O.
•
Maximum allowable FiO2 values during test execution is 70%.
•
No leaks in the ventilator circuit or around tracheal tube cuffs or uncuffed tubes
are tolerated.
•
Maximum duration of a unique test is 30 minutes to avoid potential water
condensation within sampling line.
Select Patient
1. Select or add a new patient and press
VENTILATOR Mode
to start the test.
2. Q-NRG prompts a message box to select the Ventilator setup (active Humidifier/NO Humidifier).
3. Confirm the Ventilator setup by tapping the proper option.
4. Q-NRG prompts the message to perform a Pneumotach calibration.
5. Press
YES
to calibrate or
NO
to skip calibration (e.g. the Pneumotach was already calibrated).
Calibrate Pneumotach
Every single use Flow-REE needs to be calibrated prior to VENTILATOR Mode measurement.
To Calibrate Pneumotach
1. Unpack a new Flow-REE (single use) pneumotach and connect the tubes to the corresponding Q-NRG
connectors (blue tube to blue connector, clear tube to white connector) as shown in the image below.
2. Start the calibration procedure following the instructions prompted on the screen.
3. Once flowmeter calibration has been successfully completed press
OK
to start the automatic gas analyzers
calibration.
Note:
Make sure that calibration procedure has been successfully completed before connecting the Q-NRG to
the patient circuit.
