Note: Blower/Internal Flowmeter must be calibrated periodically according to the recommended interval, to
ensure optimal performance.
To Calibrate the Pneumotach
1. Unpack a new Flow-REE (single use) pneumotach.
2. Connect the tubes to the front panel of the Q-NRG unit matching the connectors colour (blue tube to blue
connector, clear tube to white connector) as shown in the image below.
3. Start the calibration procedure following the on-screen instructions.
Note: Do not obstruct the Flow-REE pneumotach during the entire calibration procedure.
Gas Analyzers (Cylinder)
COSMED 16% O2, 5% CO2 and balance N2 mixture is recommended (REF A-860-000-004). Certified values from
the actual gas cylinder must be specified in
calibration/Calibration Factors/References
. This procedure consists of a
two-point calibration: room air and a known reference calibration gas mixture from a certified gas cylinder:
• CO2 analyzer Zero will be performed using room air, after ambient CO2 is removed by the internal scrubber.
• O2 sensor output will be adjusted using room air to cover maximal expected FiO2 range (22% or 75%) and
compensate for sensor aging.
• Calculation of correction factors necessary to match actual reading of O2 and CO2 with expected values
(room air and gas mixture).
Note: This calibration procedure must only be performed periodically (see “Required Calibration Procedures”)
and is intended for Expert users (see “Intended audience”). It shall be carried out outside the patient
area. Q-NRG+ requires two distinct calibrations for the two different O2 sensor operating ranges:
VENTILATOR Mode (0-75%), CANOPY/MASK Mode (0-22%).
