The description of each alphanumeric character in the engine model number is given
below for the example engine model number IOF-550-B1 (Figure 2-1).

2-1.2. Cylinder Number Designations
Refer to Figure 2-2:
•
The front of the engine is the end closest to the propeller and the rear of the engine
is the accessory end
•
Viewed from the rear of the engine, the left-side cylinders are designated by even
numbers 2-4-6, with Cylinder 2 being closest to the rear.
•
The right side cylinders have odd number sequential designation 1-3-5, with
Cylinder 1 being closest to the rear.
•
Firing order of the engine is 1-6-3-2-5-4.
