2-2.6. Fuel System
The Fuel Delivery System is composed of an engine-driven fuel pump, a fuel distribution
block, an induction system throttle body and fuel injector assemblies. The multi-port fuel
injection system features precise, individual cylinder mixture control; based on demand
to match engine requirements. The fuel metering unit/air throttle controls the amount of
intake air admitted through the intake manifold and meters the proportionate amount of
fuel to the fuel distribution block.
The IOF-550 features two basic fuel system configurations. The IOF-550-B and C system
use a bypass solenoid to increase fuel flow and ease starting during high ambient
temperature or hot engine starts. The IOF-550-N, P & R fuel system incorporates a
bypass valve in the fuel filter and a heat isolator under the fuel distribution block to
accomplish the same result.
