8-6.8. Manifold Air Temperature Sensor
Two Manifold Air Temperature (MAT) sensors, hard-wired to the engine low voltage
harness, are mounted in bosses with compression fittings in the throttle body or balanced
manifold (depending upon the engine model) The sensing element is a thermistor, which
changes resistance with temperature in a linear, repeatable manner.
