8-6.10. Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor
Each control channel in the ECU has an independent Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT)
Sensor for the cylinder it is controlling. The EGT sensing elements are K-type
thermocouples. Two conductors made of dissimilar metals are fused to form the
sensing element. The element generates a small voltage in proportion to the
temperature it is exposed to. Measuring the voltage produced by the sensing element
allows an accurate determination to be made of temperature at the sensor tip.
