THEFT DETERRENT
SYSTEM
NOTICE
Do not alter the Vehicle
Immobilizer/Theft Deterrent
System or the Vehicle Alarm
System. Such tampering could
affect the performance of the
system.
Your vehicle is equipped with a
Theft Deterrent System.
In addition to standard theft
deterrent system capabilities, this
system also has a power sounder,
intrusion sensor and inclination
sensor.
If this theft deterrent system is
armed, the alarm will sound any
time a door, the trunk or the hood
is opened.
The hazard lights will flash for up
to 30 seconds.
The alarm can also be triggered by
a change in vehicle position (such
as if the vehicle is lifted), or by an
interruption of the vehicle’s power
supply.
Also, the vehicle’s intrusion sensor
monitors the vehicle interior and
provides an alarm signal to the
theft deterrent module in the
event of an unauthorized entry
into the vehicle’s interior.
To arm the system:
1. If any passengers or pets
will remain in the vehicle,
deactivate the intrusion sensor
before arming the theft
deterrent system.
See "Intrusion Sensor" later
in this section for more
information.
2. Lock the vehicle.
Use one of the following
methods:
- Open the driver’s door and
press the power door lock
switch.
- Press the lock button on the
remote keyless entry
transmitter (if equipped).
- Press the lock button on the
keyless access transmitter (if
equipped).
