Directory of Drive 0
This function is used to display and load programs from the internal 3.5-inch disk drive.
To select this function, press either arrow key until "
Directory of Drive 0
" is displayed, then
press MENU RUN. The Model 512 will read the directory of the internal 3.5-inch floppy and
display the first file name, along with date and time of the last change to the file. To view other
files on disk, press the Down arrow to scroll through subsequent file names. To load a file
(program), press the Down arrow until the desired file name is displayed, then press MENU
RUN to load the program (or press RESET to cancel the function). While the file is loading, the
display will show "
loading program
." After the program has been successfully loaded, the
display will show "
ok
," followed by the message "
Model 512 Ready
."
If an error is encountered during loading, the message
“quit (1), retry (2), ignore (3)”
will be
displayed. To abort the load (1), press arrow up; press MENU RUN to a retry loading (2); or
press Down arrow to ignore the error (3) and continue loading. Most load errors are due either
to no diskette in drive, or to reading an unformatted diskette.
Directory of Drive 1
This function is used to display and load programs from the external disk drive connected to the
rear panel on some Model 512 testers. The operation of this function is identical to the Directory
of Drive 0. (The external disk drive connector was available on earlier systems; it is no longer
available.)
Learn Known Good
Before testing, it is necessary to prepare a program for the assembly to be tested. One method is
to use the LEARN KNOWN GOOD mode to create a wire list program automatically by
scanning a completed assembly and storing the continuities in memory. A complete
programming procedure using a known-good circuit is provided below. Once familiarized,
however, the user may need only refer to Figure 4.
1. Engage ENABLE plug on rear panel.
2. Connect known-good harness through adapter interface to test connectors on rear panel.
3. Press Up or Down arrow to step through menu until
LEARN KNOWN GOOD
is
displayed.
4. Press MENU RUN to initiate LEARN KNOWN GOOD. The Model 512 will scan the
known-good circuit and store its configuration (wire list) in memory. The display will
show:
Learning...Done
5. If a printer is connected, select and initiate PRINT WIRE LIST. Refer to the Wire List
Printing procedure. A sample wire list printout is provided in Figure 13.
6. Follow Save function routine to save continuity program.
7. Disconnect known-good circuit from Model 512.
