5.12  Chaffer Orientation

The chaffers inside the body of the Grain Vac come standard in a configuration for small grains. In standard
configuration, the upper chaffer is in the lower body resting on the lower chaffer with the holes or openings
in the chaffer facing the rear of the machine and the lower chaffer is sitting on the lower body ledges with
the holes or openings
facing the front of the
machine.
  Sometimes, during
operation in soybeans or
field peas, pods from
these crops can become
hung up in between the
chaffers and limit airflow
and therefore capacity.
The solution to this
problem is to remove the
lower chaffer and
position the upper chaffer
into the raised position.
Use the following
procedure to raise the
upper chaffer:

1. Open the upper body

by undoing the quick
latches.

2. Remove upper

chaffer and set aside.

3. Remove lower

chaffer and store
safely for future use.

4. Rotate the upper

chaffer 180

o

 so the

holes are facing the
front of the machine
and install it into the
upper body lid, on
the pins welded to the
inside of the lid and
secure with the
hairpins.

5. Close the upper body and secure with the latches.
