5.19 PTO Shaft Slip Clutch Assembly
The fan drive belt is protected by a slip clutch in the PTO shaft. This slip clutch is designed to slip in lieu of
the belts on hard full power starts and rapid stops. It is not intended as a shear device and will fail if
allowed to slip for any length of time.
To service the Clutch pack:
1. Make sure the tractor is off and the PTO is disengaged.
2. Disconnect the driveline from the tractor.
3. Locate the (6) bolts (Item 8) on the O.D. of the clutch pack. Remove the bolts and disassemble the
clutch pack.
4. Reassemble the clutch pack using new friction discs and spring. See above.
5. Tighten the (6) bolts (Item 8) on the O.D. of the clutch pack until the compression plate (Item 7) is in
contact with the housing (Item 1), then keep tightening each bolt to 30 ft.lbs.
6. Locate the (4) bolts (Item 10) that attach the yoke & hub (Item 12) to the clutch pack and
check that each bolt is tightened to 30 ft.lbs.
7. Reconnect the PTO shaft to the main driveshaft.
