5.17 Tube Lock Spring Adjustment
Adjust the Tube Lock Spring to be compressed to 3” as shown in Fig. 42. This is the proper adjustment
for both the 5000 and 5000 EX model Grain Vacs.

Tube Lock
shimmed so the end of the flight core is 1/8” outside the level of the flange. See Fig. 45. The shims
must be placed between the upper bearing lock collar and the roll pin in the flight stub. If the measurement
on the centre flight taken in step 1 was more than 1/16”, the upper flight must be shimmed to have as
little gap as possible between the end of the upper flight core and the face of the cast drive dog. After
the flight has been shimmed properly, tighten the lock collar.
