Section 7 - Propulsion System
Power Steering Information
The Verado
®
engine(s) package comes with a power
steering pump that is located under the motorwell ac-
cess hatch. The major components of the pump system,
(for filling & maintenance) is covered by a shroud. Re-
move the shroud and unscrew the cap to check the fluid
level in the reservoir. There is a filter insert that needs to
be checked and cleared if necessary. Fill as necessary.
Make it a habit of checking the fluid level before each
trip.
The power steering pump on the 305 Conquest can be
accessed through the aft machinery compartment.
Use ONLY SAE 0W-30 Full Synthetic Power Steering
Fluid when refilling the reservoir. The power steering
pump’s owner’s manual will have all the information re-
garding care and maintenance. Follow all recommenda-
tions carefully.
The system is virtually maintenance free, aside from regu-
lar fluid checks and visually inspecting the outside of the
unit for sign of leaks or damage.

Wind and sea currents can change how your boat re-
sponds while in motion. Understanding your boat and
its reactions at speed will make boating for you safer
and more enjoyable.
CAUTION
Shift controls into NEUTRAL before starting engine. Shift
only when engine is at idle. Reversing at high speeds
can cause a flooding/swamping due to water being
pushed over the transom.

Digital Throttle & Shift, (DTS)
Your 305 Conquest uses a state of the art “drive-by-
wire”gear shift and throttle control system. The Digital
Throttle/Shift (DTS)® is the latest technology in recre-
ational boating. The DTS® is designed to work with the
dual Verado and optional OptiMax Mercury engines.
There is a separate user’s manual that will detail the vari-
ous systems that can be controlled by the DTS®. Read
and follow all instructions regarding the proper use of
the DTS® system. The DTS® system can be monitored
through the use of the SC5000 display. The SC 5000
will give you a visual readout of all functions regarding
your boats engine(s), direction, and applicable fluid ca-
pacities.
